Strange little film this one. Its clear that the director had a history of arty flicks behind him as the film veers wildly between explotation and arthouse pretension. one example of this is a fight sequence in such incredible slo-mo that i fast fowarded it out of boredom and it still ran slower than normal!

the porn inserts are quite shocking because they rear up out of nowhere. One second your\'e watching our heroine learn deadly karate by perfecting her forward roll skills, the next the screen is filled with close up money shots without any set up or warning. This is quite jarring but also amusing in its own way.

I loved the fact that even though she is a prisoner forced into prostitution to feed a heroin habit given to her by her captor. he still lets her out once a week, no questioned asked, to train for her eventual revenge. This defies all logic and is really the key to enjoying this film, namely that every plot point is a set up for sex or violence which is the whole reason for these sorts of films anyway. Quite what a porno theatre audience would have made of the spiteful tone and extremes of violence is anyones guess but only a really twisted person would find this in anyway sexy.

In conclusion I really enjoyed this despite, and maybe because, of its faults and would recommend it to anyone who isn\'t easily offended.
